Cruises

Why Cruising Is the Ultimate Holiday

  • See multiple destinations while unpacking just once
Cruises let you visit several ports (cities, islands, countries) without having to change hotels or spend time moving between different lodgings.
  • Good value for money
Many costs are bundled: accommodation, meals, entertainment, and access to onboard facilities. This often makes cruises more economical compared to piecing together your own multi-stop trip.
  • Lots of activities and amenities onboard
The ship is part of the attraction: pools, spas, gyms, shows, bars, themed nights, etc. Whether you want relaxation or lots going on, there’s usually something to suit.
  • Minimal planning stress
Because much is included and organised (meals, port stops, entertainment), you often have fewer decisions or logistics to worry about than with a land-based trip.
  • Flexibility for different types of travellers
Cruises can work for solo travellers, couples, families, seniors. There are luxury lines, adventure/expedition cruises, family-friendly ships, quiet/relaxed ones.
  • Unique destinations or perspectives
Some places are best seen from the sea (fjord coasts, remote islands), or cruises allow you to access islands or ports that are harder to reach otherwise.
  • Luxury or pampering (if that’s your thing)
If you go with a premium or luxury cruise line, you often get high-end service, fine dining, exclusive excursions, nicer cabins, etc.

Best Cruises / Itineraries to Consider (& Why They’re Special)

  • World Cruises - For bucket-list travellers. These are long (often months) itineraries that sail across multiple continents. You get the full immersion – many ports, many different cultures, scenery that changes dramatically.
  • Western Mediterranean - Great mix of culture, food, history, and beautiful coastlines. Ports like Barcelona, Rome, Nice, Venice... great for first-timers or those wanting a varied, scenic cruise.
  • Asia-Pacific & Japan / Far East - Fantastic if you want something more exotic. Cruise lines are offering more port-intensive itineraries in Asia (overnights, more time in ports) which allows you to explore in depth.
  • Luxury / Boutique Line Cruises - Smaller ships, more personalised service, unique and offbeat ports, often more “immersive” with better food, higher quality cabins, more overnights in ports. Good for travellers who want more comfort and less mass tourism.
  • River Cruises - If you prefer less sea time, more calm water, intimate settings. Going along rivers (Europe, Asia, others) lets you see inland towns & countryside in a way ocean cruises don’t. Less “sea motion”, too.
  • Expedition & Adventure Cruises - For explorers: polar regions (Arctic, Antarctica), remote islands, wildlife-rich areas. Ships are usually smaller, more specialised, and you get experiences land-based tourists can’t.
  • Disney Cruise = magic for everyone: kids meet characters and enjoy clubs, adults relax in quiet lounges and fine dining, and the whole family gets Broadway-style shows, amazing food, and trips to places like Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.
